What Does a Home Inspector Do?
Have you ever wondered what exactly a home inspector does? I'm here to tell you!
A home inspector is there to check the safety of a home that you are wanting to buy. They want to let you know how safe the home is. They concentrate on the structure, the construction, and the mechanical systems of the home. They will let you know if any repairs need to be made to make the home safe to live in.
One thing the home inspector does not do, is to tell you if you are receiving the value for your money on the home.
The home inspector will check and give you an estimate on repairs that need to be made. They will evaluate the electrical system, plumbing and waste disposal, the water heater, insulation and ventilation, the heating and air conditioning system, the water source and quality of the water, the potential presence of pests, as well as the foundation, doors, windows, ceilings, walls, floors, and roof.
You want to make sure to hire a home inspector who is qualified and has a good amount of experience. You also want to make sure that you have the home inspection done BEFORE you sign a written offer! If you sign an offer before having the home inspected, you have now bought the home as it is and anything that needs to be fixed will be your responsibility.
If you have any questions about finding a reputable home inspector, or any other questions relating to buying or selling a home, please give us a call at 909-255-1070.
